Ashley Meyers of Main Line Fashionista Shares Her Style Secrets

Ashley Meyers, CEO and founder of Main Line Fashionista, dishes on her fashion favorites and go-to places to shop.

Her style: Confident. I take away the doubt of whether I look good and only listen to how I feel.

Fashion roots: I’m a fifth-generation Main Liner, but my fashion roots may not be what you imagine. I was raised in a humble home and taught at an early age that if you want something, you have to earn it. I began buying my own clothing at 13 with my babysitting money. I chose the most important pieces and learned to shop second-hand. To this day, I hold true to my fashion roots by creating my unique style on a budget that mixes vintage and current items.

Indispensable wardrobe items: Family heirlooms with a few new pieces. My nana’s 1960s brightly colored shift dress, my grandmother’s jade necklace, my mom’s 1970s rehearsal two-piece outfit that I wore to my wedding rehearsal and a silk robe my husband gave me. Also, I can’t live without my Risen jeans and Frye boots. My latest obsession is scuba fabric loungewear.

Favorite places to shop: My boutique, of course. Main Line Fashionista is carefully curated with all my favorite brands. Risen jeans, Gorjana jewelry, PINCH dresses and many local designers, like the Kathy Romano Collection.

Fashion icons: My daughters Ava and Lula. Depending on their moods, Ava’s style flows from expressive to boho to perfectly on-trend, and Lula’s style ebbs from traditional with a twist to whimsical to chic.

Thoughts on aging: I make a conscious daily decision to slow the process down and live in the moment. In 10, 15, 20 years, I want to look back and say I enjoyed life. That’s what I’m doing—enjoying life now for my older self.

Beauty tip every woman can appreciate: Smile so big your cheeks hurt, and laugh so hard your head goes back.

Why fashion matters: I’m constantly amazed at the difference a well-fitted pair of jeans can make in someone’s life. I’ve shared tears of joy with mothers while their daughters are in the dressing rooms because they’re so thankful I helped them find a dress. I’ve received countless thank-you’s from clients whom I’ve dressed for last-minute dates, weddings, photoshoots or interviews. It validates that fashion is important.
