Baking Competition Features Cake Inspired by Game of Thrones

Tickets for City of Hope’s 10th annual Let Them Eat Cake event are on sale now.

On Monday, April 7, City of Hope hosts its annual “Let Them Eat Cake” event at the DoubleTree Hotel in Philadelphia. The theme of this year’s fundraiser is “Ultimate Fantasy Wedding” and more than 40 Philadelphia-area bakeries, including West Chester’s famous The Master’s Baker, will be vying for top-place recognition in the competition.

“In honor of our 10-year anniversary we wanted to give local bakeries the opportunity to basically take their creativity to whatever limit they wanted to take it to,” says Harry Giordano, City of Hope’s Senior Director of Development for the Northeast Region.

Competitors seem to be taking the full advantage of the opportunity: be on the lookout for a Game of Thrones themed cake, an outer space cake, and believe it or not, an underwater wedding cake.

All attendees have the opportunity to taste test each of the cakes, as well as the use of a take-home container that they can load up with their favorite slices of cake. Since an evening of taste-testing cakes can leave you thirsty there will be unlimited wine and champagne offered throughout the event, which will feature entertainment from Brandywine Valley Talent.

All proceeds from Let Them Eat Cake benefits City of Hope’s Women’s Cancer Research and Treatment.
