This month, the Chester County Historical Society celebrates the 30th anniversary of its annual Antiques Show. Scheduled for March 16-18 at the Westtown School in West Chester, the event highlights an international selection of more than 50 acclaimed dealers. Local names include Britannia House Antiques from Wayne and West Chester’s H.L. Chalfant Antiques. “We’ve been involved with the show since its inception,” says Scott Chalfant, who runs the shop with his father, Skip. “There’s a tight-knit community of dealers who bring incredible antiques to the show.”
Whether you’re in the market to buy or simply want to browse, you’re bound to be impressed. This year, the focus is on high-quality 18th- and 19th-century American and Continental pieces, some of them museum worthy. “Our spice boxes and chests of drawers are uniquely Chester County in origin,” says Chalfant.
The March 16 preview party offers a more intimate experience, and on March 18, an expert will be available for verbal appraisals à la Antiques Roadshow.
