ALL THINGS VINTAGE: A self-described hunter, gatherer and stylist Hillary O’Carroll can now add the title “shop owner” to her portfolio, now that her antique and vintage home accessories boutique, Isabella Sparrow, is officially open for business in Bryn Mawr. The Chestnut Hill resident has already made a name for herself locally as a vendor at Ardmore’s wildly popular Clover Market. “Clover has really been such great exposure,” says O’Carroll. “Now seemed like the perfect time to open up a brick-and-mortar business.”
So far, customer response to Isabella Sparrow’s inventory has been impressive. O’Carroll credits the surging demand for non-plastic, mass-produced accessories. “Vintage, repurposed items add integrity to a space,” she says.
At Isabella Sparrow, you’ll find a metal chicken feeder transformed into a centerpiece, distressed barn gates doubling as a headboard for a king bed, and pillows made from European grain sacks. O’Carroll also offers statement jewelry from Bucks County’s Joeyfivecents, and cocoa-espresso and blueberry-vanilla candles from the Virginia-based Sidney Hale Candle Co. “I wanted to fill this space with simple, useful, beautiful things,” she says. 1012 W.
