Pull out the box of tissues for our very first featured adoptable dog. Mitzy first came to Brookline Lab Rescue underweight and skittish after spending years locked up in a damp basement. Though it took her no time to warm up to her foster homes, the black lab mix couldn’t seem to catch a break. The vet found suspicious tumors in her breasts, and, after removing her mammary glands and three nipples, Mitzy is looking for a fresh start. Now she is happy and healthy—and ready to be the center of a loving home. Because she has had little chance to socialize with other animals, Mitzy would be best as an only pet. She also gets skittish when it comes to fireworks, vacuums and thunderstorms. Mitzy is ready be a part of all of her owners’ life moments—whether that’s a long morning walk or a nap on the couch.
