The town of Media, Pa.— the original town center—is in a festive state of mind! The Media Business Preservation Committee and the Holiday Decorating Committee, both branches of the Media Business Authority, have been planning for months to make this the best holiday season ever. Store and business owners have joined community volunteers to decorate the town and provide holiday entertainment in the shopping district.
The merriment begins at 10 a.m. on Black Friday, Nov. 25, on beloved State Street. The town tree and lights are turned on at 5 p.m. for the Holiday Stroll and Festival of Lights.
The focal point of both Black Friday and Small Business Saturday (Nov. 26) will be on the vibrant retail community. Individual store sales, carriage rides, holiday carolers and strolling musicians, along with complimentary popcorn, hot chocolate, cider and gift wrapping will provide Media and its surrounding communities with a destination for their holiday shopping. Whether it’s artwork, clothing, jewelry, baby gifts, antiques, furniture, flowers or décor, shoppers will be able to find it in one of Media’s unique stores.
Need a break? Dine in one of the town’s fabulous restaurants, where every type of food is represented. Feeling nostalgic? (“You’ll shoot your eye out!”) Get your tickets for Media Theatre’s A Christmas Story, playing from Nov. 9 into January. And the classic Dickens play A Christmas Carol runs Nov. 25–Dec. 24 at nearby Hedgerow Theatre.
The festivities continue Sunday, Nov. 27, with a Santa Fun Run/Walk and the third annual Santa Parade.
