3 Spots to Get the Perfect Beer for Home

As decks are power-washed and propane tanks are primed, thoughts turn to one summer’s go-to beverages. Here’s where to get it.

The Beer Shoppe

Fresh off its fourth anniversary, the Beer Shoppe continues to grow its diverse customer base. There are eight rotating drafts for on-site consumption and growlers to go, along with hundreds of bottles from around the corner—and the globe. Savvy shoppers can utilize a free mobile app to aid in the selection process. Among Beer Shoppe patrons, the most popular local beers are Neshaminy Creek, Victory and Yards. You can even snack on gourmet hot dogs, wings, flatbreads and personal pizzas.

44 Greenfield Ave., Ardmore, (484) 416-3594.

The Beer Store

Beer Store owner Dhiren Patel envisions 10 locations in the area by 2020. In the meantime, his Malvern shop—with more than 2,000 bottles and a draft room with 30 taps—has become popular for its rare high-end pours and release events. Right now, barrel-aged and sour varieties are generating a ton of buzz around the country, and new names like Conshohocken, Free Will and Round Guys are holding their own against Flying Fish, Weyerbacher and other more established favorites.

Lincoln Court Shopping Center, 215 Lancaster Ave., Malvern, (610) 647-7373.

Pinocchio’s Beer Garden To Go

Though pizza has been a cornerstone at Pinocchio’s since 1955, Tim Volikas convinced his dad to turn the back dining room into what’s now a well-respected bottle shop with a mind-boggling selection. Since 2009, Volikas’ aim has been to provide customers with a beer inventory to rival what you’d find in Center City. On almost a weekly basis, beer fans come for the special events and stellar drafts. Dogfish Head and Tröegs fly off the shelves, as does Aston’s 2SP.
