In Memoriam: Barry Weinstein, DDS
Main Line Today joins the dental community in mourning the passing of Dr. Barry Weinstein. A periodontist for 32 years, Weinstein died in January. Treasured and trusted by patients and colleagues, Weinstein leaves behind a legacy of dental expertise. “Dr. Weinstein was, without question, an incredibly talented and compassionate periodontist—respected by his colleagues, loved by his patients and now missed by all who knew him,” says Dr. Jonathan Scharf of Exton Dental Health Group and the Pennsylvania Center for Cosmetic Dentistry. “It was an honor to have shared in patient care with him. The profession has lost a truly great man.”
At his practice in Exton, Weinstein cared for patients with complex, challenging dental issues. “I had the honor and pleasure of working with Barry for over 25 years,” says Dr. Sam Kratchman of Exton, West Chester and Paoli Endodontics. “He was a caring and dedicated doctor who treated his patients as family. We spent countless hours on the phone and in person discussing cases. Whenever I needed help with difficult treatment planning, I always knew Barry was there. He will be sorely missed by the profession and our community.”
Dentists throughout the greater Philadelphia area sought Weinstein’s clinical opinion. He served on Main Line Today’s Dental Advisory Board and was a Top Dentist for many years. “It is a great sadness to have lost a wonderful and compassionate periodontist from our community,” says Exton periodontist Dr. Steven Atlas. “Barry practiced at the highest level of expertise. I will miss him as a respected dental colleague.”
Main Line Today extends condolences to the Weinstein family, including his wife, Eileen, and their daughter, Erica. In honor of Weinstein’s memory, contributions can be made to Penn Medicine’s Lymphoma Research Fund.
