Oftentimes, you hit that midweek slump and don’t feel like cooking, but you don’t want to spend a fortune dining out. Fortunately, you don’t have to settle for fast food—The Gables at Chadds Ford offers a delicious three-course, prix-fixe dinner menu that’s affordable and gratifying every Tuesday and Wednesday. Here are four reasons why you need to go.

It’s only $32 per person.
Ann Kolenick, the proprietor of The Gables, says each diner can enjoy an appetizer, an entrée and a dessert for only $32. She says the restaurant has been offering the prix-fixe menu on Tuesdays and Wednesdays for a couple of years, and people really enjoy the options.

You get to try items that aren’t featured on the regular dinner menu.
The prix-fixe menu showcases items that are not on The Gables’ regular dinner menu, including the beet-and-mozzarella tower, which is drizzled with a balsamic reduction and herbs; the “Low Country” Stew with pork and beef, hearty vegetables and a grilled baguette; and the coriander-encrusted cod, served with asparagus and sliced radishes.

The portion sizes are precise.
After a hard day, you want a satisfying meal that isn’t overly heavy. While three courses sounds plentiful, Kolenick promises that you will leave feeling full but not stuffed. This means there’s always room for dessert, but deciding whether to order the bourbon pecan pie, Ann’s chocolate-banana cake, ice cream or sorbet is a difficult task.
The menu changes seasonally.
Kolenick says the prix-fixe menu remains the same for a few months. “We like to change it seasonally, usually three times a year,” she says. In the spring, the new menu will incorporate vegetables and herbs from the restaurant’s rooftop garden. “It’s a good excuse to come out on a Tuesday or Wednesday and enjoy a nice meal,” she says.
The Gables at Chadds Ford offers American fare with French influences and some Southern flair in a rustic country setting. Patrons can enjoy fresh, seasonal cuisine for lunch, dinner or Sunday brunch. Happy-hour specials help make unwinding after work particularly easy, and the experienced staff can make any special event one to remember. Reservations are not required to enjoy the prix-fixe menu.
