By now, most of you have probably heard the news that James Beard Award-winning chef Michael Solomonov and his restaurateur partner, Steve Cook, are coming to Merion this summer with a kosher European-Jewish restaurant and catering company. We have the scoop on what you can expect when Citron and Rose opens its doors on Montgomery Avenue (in the same strip of stores and restaurants as Town Hall Coffee and Hymie’s Deli) some time in the coming months. The restaurant will be open for dinner Sunday-Thursday only (to observe Shabatt on Friday and Saturday) and will serve updated takes on Old World Jewish cuisine, strictly following kosher guidelines.
There will be meat cooked over a charcoal rotisserie grill, house-made charcuterie, baked breads and traditional vegetable dishes and salads. The restaurant itself will seat 60 guests and a chef’s counter, and a dark wood marble top bar will be the perfect spot to peek into the open kitchen while enjoying a drink from the all-kosher beer, wine and cocktail list.
Citron and Rose Catering is the other half of Solomonov’s project and will be available for on- and off-site events, from weddings to bar and bat mitzvahs. Catering will be available beginning this summer and appointments can be made by contacting events@citronandrose.com.
