Grab a pint and unwind at these outdoor beer gardens around the Main Line and Philadelphia suburbs.

Around Philadelphia and the Main Line, beer gardens have all but become synonymous with summer. Making the most of the area’s rich craft brewing culture and bucolic landscapes, the western suburbs have an abundance of great spots to check out, whether gathering with coworkers, friends or family. From rooftop hangouts to riverfront venues, here are some of our favorite local beer gardens.

In the suburbs:

The Analog Room

Soak up the sun at this rooftop beer garden in the heart of Phoenixville. Located on the second floor of Bistro on Bridge, this funky spot features classic arcade games, live music and a retro Volkswagen bus that was converted into a bar. The Analog Room is open Wednesday through Sunday.

Conshohocken Beer Garden

At Conshohocken Beer Garden, which is operated by Pieri Restaurant Group, guests can enjoy a wide array of brews, as well as wine, light bites, live music and outdoor games. The garden, which is both family and pet friendly, operates Friday nights from 5-10 p.m. until June 28. Service will resume on Sept. 6.

Conshohocken Brewing Company Bridgeport Brewpub Beer Garden

Conshohocken Brewing Company transformed the parking lot of its Bridgeport brewpub into an outdoor oasis, featuring food trucks and lawn games like corn hole and connect four. The garden, open Friday through Sunday, is both dog and kid friendly.

The Creamery of Kennett Square

Located in the heart of Kennett Square, this 100-plus-year-old creamery building was renovated into a family-friendly beer garden with food trucks, lawn games, live entertainment and an axe-throwing venue. Find local craft beers like Sly Fox Phoenix Pale Ale and Victory Summer Love, among others. The Creamery is open Thursday through Sunday.

The Gables at Chadds Ford Beer Garden

Every Thursday from June through August, the Gables opens its terrace for an evening of outdoor fun. Starting at 6 p.m., visitors can enjoy live music from local artists, lawn games and seasonal beverages.

Levante Beer Garden at Highlands Orchards

Slated to open May 24, Levante Brewing Company’s recently announced pop-up at Highland Orchards will operate from 12-6 p.m. Friday through Sunday. The garden will be family-friendly and feature Highland’s award-winning baked goods and local produce in addition to Levante’s beers, ciders and hard teas.

Longwood Gardens Beer Garden

Horticulture and beer enthusiasts alike can enjoy this unique beer garden by Victory Brewing Company at Longwood Gardens. Open Thursday through Saturday from 4-9 p.m., guests can enjoy tasty pub fare, a wide variety of refreshing brews, wood-fired pizza, barbecue grill stations and live performances. Timed tickets or reservations for members of Longwood Gardens are required.

Linvilla Orchards Beer Garden

After enormous success during its inaugural season last fall, Linvilla Orchards’ beer garden, created in partnership with Ship Bottom Brewery, is back for the summer. Open every Saturday and Sunday from 12-9 p.m., the newly remodeled space features lawn games, live music, plus limited-edition brews and ales crafted with produce from Linvilla’s farm.

Suburban Restaurant and Beer Garden

As a hyper-local, farm-focused beer garden and restaurant in Exton, Suburban is a split between a sit-down, modern American restaurant and a casual, picnic-tabled 24-tap beer garden complete with fire pits and a gaming area. Menus showcase local farms, breweries and distilleries. The casual ambiance makes it great for lunch or dinner.

In the city:

Bok Bar

Located in the heart of South Philly, this seasonal rooftop bar offers jaw-dropping views of the city’s skyline. Open Wednesday through Sunday starting May 23, Bok Bar offers a wide selection of beers and wines, as well as Middle Eastern-inspired appetizers. Young children and dogs are welcome on Sundays.

Chestnut Hill Brewing Company Beer Garden

Become one with nature in the naturalistic Chestnut Hill Brewing Company Beer Garden. Trees and flowers encircle the dining area, fairy lights hang from wooden beams, and natural light shines through the glass roof. Customers can choose from eight small-batch draft beers, three wines and 11 wood-fired Neapolitan pizzas.

East Falls Beer Garden

Drink craft beer, nosh on cuisine from food trucks, browse vendors and listen to local music at the East Falls Beer Garden. This pop-up is only open every third Thursday from May through October.

Independence Beer Garden

The 22,000 square-foot Independence Beer Garden overlooks the Liberty Bell Center and the Independence National Historical Park. Adirondack chairs, large granite boulders, picnic tables and air-conditioned private seating made from repurposed shipping containers seat over 300 guests. Sip on over 40 taps of regional craft beers and nosh on grub like cheesesteaks, fried chicken, mac and cheese, crispy wings and brisket. Bonus: the garden is open daily starting at 11:30 a.m.

Morgan’s Pier

This scenic beer garden overlooks the Delaware River and Benjamin Franklin Bridge. It has a great combination of craft beer, wine and cocktails to enjoy while taking in live entertainment. With seating for up to 500 people, guests can dine on casual cuisine while soaking up the scenery. Morgan’s Pier is open until 2 a.m. daily.

PHS Pop Up Garden, South Street

Furnished with romantic and rustic elements like wildflowers, purple and pink annuals and the site’s towering mulberry tree draped in festive lights, the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society Pop Up Garden is not to be missed. Drinks like the Woodermelon—Tito’s vodka and fresh pressed watermelon juice—and the Bartram—Hendricks gin with fresh cucumber and lime juice—are perfect for summer sipping. An expanded margarita selection, mint juleps, mojitos and sangria round out libations. The beer garden is open every day until 10 p.m.

Rodin Museum Garden Bar

Perhaps one of the region’s most unique beer gardens, the Rodin Museum’s popular alfresco bar is back for another season. This dog-friendly garden bar offers beer and wine, and guests are allowed to bring their own food. While admission to the bar is free, admission to the museum’s interior is pay-what-you-wish. Rodin’s garden bar will open for the 2019 season on May 18.

The Watering Hole at the Philadelphia Zoo

Take a walk on the wild side at this open-air beer garden at the Philadelphia Zoo. Located next to the Eagle’s Roost, the Watering Hole features local beer and wine, as well as bratwurst, hotdogs, pulled pork sandwiches and nachos. It’s open daily from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.
