There’s a new pup joining the pack. Fearless Restaurants has announced a fifth White Dog Cafe location set to open on Friday, June 14, at 181 Gordon Drive in Exton.
The new restaurant is on the site of the former Vickers Restaurant built in the 1820s and once served as a stop on the Underground Railroad. With seven rooms, the restaurant can accommodate 400 guests. The location will also offer private dining space for corporate or social events.
Set to be one of the largest eateries in Fearless Restaurants’ arsenal, White Dog Cafe Chester Springs provides a unique dining experience while maintaining the site’s history. The new location aims to “[create] a space that feels like you are in a home with each room having its own personality,” says Fearless Restaurant managing partner Marty Grims.
Stokes Architecture + Design brought the renovation to life, updating the original farmhouse originally owned by abolitionist and potter John Vicker. The design blends the past with the present for a distinctive guest experience.
The main bar, previously the banquet hall, is lit by hexagonal lanterns saved from an old church. Stokes also built an awning and fireplace for the original front patio, in addition to a roofed side patio. Other unique elements include part of the original brick flooring, thrifted antique furniture from local vendors, reupholstered wooden dining chairs and a stoneware jug collection, added as a nod to Vicker’s profession.

Like all White Dog Cafe locations, the new restaurant features dog-themed artwork. Two local artists created the artwork for the Chester Springs location, with a portion of the proceeds going to Alpha Bravo Canine, a nonprofit that provides service dogs for veterans.
As for the food itself, you can expect to find White Dog Cafe’s award-winning American cuisine, featuring seasonal, locally sourced and sustainably raised ingredients. Just like the four other White Dog Cafe locations in University City, Haverford, Glen Mills and Wayne, this new eatery leans into fan-favorite dishes in a welcoming atmosphere that keeps diners coming back for more.
