The Main Line is home to some stellar chefs and unique dining establishments and each year, the James Beard Foundation recognizes the best in the business throughout the nation. This year’s semifinalists have been announced, and among the contenders are two beloved Main Line eateries.
The awards feature 21 categories, including new restaurant, best chef, outstanding baker, rising chef of the year, and restaurant design. This year, there were more than 20,000 entries contending for this esteemed recognition, and Teresa’s Next Door in Wayne and Talula’s Table in Kennett Square made their way to the top, along with a number of other Philly favorites.
Teresa’s Next Door, a semifinalist in the outstanding bar program, has made a name for itself with its eclectic menu of diverse meats and an impressive selection of whiskeys from around the world. Meanwhile, Talula’s Table is competing in the outstanding restaurant category, as its charming, seasonal- and artisan-focused country market and cafe morphs into a gourmet farm-to-table restaurant at night that’s so popular it can take a year to get a reservation.
The next round of votes will whittle down the semifinalists to five nominees per category, the results of which will be announced on March 14, at Parc in Philadelphia. Winners will then be announced on April 27 at Pier Sixty at Chelsea Piers in New York City.
