Tomato Bistro: Manayunk’s Couch Tomato Adds a Restaurant Upstairs

No more scrambling to get a slice and a seat. This Philly pizzeria has expanded to create Tomato Bistro, complete with a liquor license and new menu items.

Manayunk’s popular pizzeria, the Couch Tomato, is known for its thin-crust, New York-style pizza, not its tiny environs on Rector Street—that is, until now. Owners Craig Mosmen and Michael Cassano have expanded their first-floor eatery into two more stories, offering 70-plus seats in a more formal setting. Whereas the first level is more of a grab-and-go place, Tomato Bistro is complete with table service, a liquor license, and some extra menu items like tapas. High ceilings, fireplaces and a casual atmosphere make this restaurant perfect for a date or a family meal. 102 Rector St., Philadelphia; (215) 483-2233, thecouchtomato.com.
