I love it when restaurants find ways to liven up a midweek evening, and Jose Garces’ Tinto is doing just that. Beginning Aug. 16, the Basque eatery will host Tinto Tuesdays, a happy hour featuring deals on drinks and food from the tapas-style menu.
For just $2, guests can enjoy a nice selection of small plates, like baby artichokes with lemon and cheese, Spanish octopus, or pickled tomato with sheep’s cheese. Or try an open-faced sandwich, such as goat cheese with brûléed fig, Spanish sausage with truffle aioli and celery, or short rib.
And what would a true pintxo (tapas) experience be without a tasty cocktail or a glass of wine? Diners can choose between a $5 specialty cocktail, a $4 glass of red or white wine, $2 draft beers, or half-priced sangria. The Mairritze cocktail is especially good: a mixture of cachaça, muddled mint, lime, and blood orange.
Tuesdays, 5-7 p.m. 114 S. 20th St., Philadelphia; (215) 665-9150, tintorestaurant.com.
