Tin Lizard Brewing Company’s Carved Brisket is a Must-Try

The Bryn Mawr microbrewery serves up South Carolina-inspired barbecue.

Named for the slang term for the 1900s-era rail car that helped shape the Main Line, Tin Lizard Brewing Company is a fitting name for this Bryn Mawr gem. The two-story barbecue joint and microbrewery along Lancaster Avenue is where Gary Farley and his wife, Karen—along with his brother and sister-in-law Alicia and Mark Farley—share their dual passions with the community they love.

Gary’s rotating small-batch brews strike a balance with Alicia’s South Carolina-inspired smokehouse specialties. The carved brisket is pink-ringed and tender, its seasoned outer crust downright mouthwatering, with a jerky-like flavor. For a smoked Cheez Whiz-slathered indulgence, try the steak sandwich.

With happy-hour discounts and a second-story deck that’s open in warmer months and perfect for sunsets, this casual family affair is on the right track.
