The Wait Is Finally Over: Xilantro Opens Up in Wayne

The Main Line’s sparse Mexican dining scene gets a pick-me-up in Xilantro, which offers familiar favorites and eclectic entrĂ©es for lunch, dinner and brunch.

Xilantro, the much-anticipated Mexican restaurant located on North Wayne Avenue in the heart Wayne has finally opened, and just in time for summer. If you love Mexican food, then you know it’s not exactly easy to get your fill on the Main Line. There’s been a serious shortage of good Mexican eateries, so it’s exciting to have a new place to dine. I have yet to get there, and if you haven’t been there yet either, expect authentic yet progressive Mexican cuisine in a modern setting. Owner Luis Marin is also the owner of Los Sarapes in Chalfont and Horsham as well as El Sarape in Blue Bell. Chef Juan Pablo Quiroz, a CIA grad, works the kitchen serving up dishes like Mexican-style braised lamb, grilled pork chops with tomatillo sauce and crunchy plantains, black and white sea bass, and of course, enchiladas, tacos and fajitas. The menu looks really fantastic. And if that’s not enough to get you to Wayne, how about the selection of more than 100 varieties of tequila plus a great beer, wine and cocktail list complete with specialty margaritas including the “skinny margarita” (the recipe is a secret family recipe). Xilantro is currently open for lunch and dinner seven days a week plus Sunday brunch. Have you eaten there yet? Let us know what you thought! 103 N. Wayne Ave., Wayne; (484) 580-8415, xilantro.com.
