The peach and raspberry-infused sangria had barely been poured into cups before Best of the Main Line & Western Suburbs party guests were lining up for the Gables at Chadds Ford’s award-winning summery cocktail.
At the Drexelbrook at the end of last July, a sip of the 2015 Best Sangria was just what guests needed for a refreshing start to indulge in the bustling atmosphere. A rustic wooden table, sprinkled with sunflowers and fresh, in-season produce, exuded a little of the restaurant’s barn-chic atmosphere.
“We wanted to give people an idea of what they will experience when they come to The Gables—a rustic and friendly atmosphere with lots of fresh local ingredients,” says restaurant owner Anne Kolenick.
Located south of the Main Line proper, The Gables owners are very familiar with Chadds Ford and Brandywine Valley residents, but rarely get a chance to mingle with those who might reside further north. The party was the perfect place to meet other Main Line residents and introduce them to this cozy spot they might not have heard of, sure to become part of a go-to date night routine.

Guests who dined at the restaurant after becoming acquainted with its country chic elegance at the party already knew what they would be ordering to sip on.
“We definitely saw an increase of guests asking about the sangria,” Kolenick says. “We found that people were calling the restaurant and asking about it after seeing it in the magazine or tasting it at the party.”
It’s a success they hope to continue in the future. “We were so thrilled to be a part of the party and to be recognized for our delicious Sangria,” says Kolenick. “It’s always great to get that nice feedback and know that people enjoy what we are doing.”
Last year’s taste has guests hoping to see The Gables, and its sangria, back at the 2016 Best of the Main Line party.
