The Main Line is abuzz with news of two new BYOBs coming this summer: Husband-and-wife Gianluca Demontis and Rosemarie Tran’s Fraschetta and Ben Thomas’s Restaurant Cerise.
Fifty-seat Fraschetta, backed by the couple who also owns Rittenhouse’s Melograno, will open in Bryn Mawr on Friday, June 28. The rustic Italian spot, at 816 W. Lancaster Ave., will initially will be open Tuesdays through Sundays for dinner, with lunch following at a later date. Menu items piquing our interest are polipo, an octopus and sweet pea stew; mezzi rigatoni carbonara, with sheared farm-raised eggs and lamb pancetta; and tagliata di pesce spada, grilled swordfish over cannellini beans, arugula and sun-dried tomatoes. Call the restaurant (610-525-1007) for more information.
Restaurant Cerise is also setting up shop in Bryn Mawr, at 1011 W. Lancaster Ave. As a European-style, bi-level bistro with dishes from France, Spain and the Mediterranean, Cerise will serve a prix-fixe menu Wednesdays through Sundays—four courses for $35 on weeknights, $45 on weekends. Brunch on Saturday and Sunday will include self-service pâtés, terrines and cheeses followed by two set courses. Thomas bills the space as a sophisticated bistro that’s not overly formal. The soft opening is planned for Tuesday, Aug. 20.
