Northern Chester County recently welcomed a new vineyard to its lush agricultural landscape. Stone Barn Cellars Winery, situated along Route 100 in Spring City, launched into the local wine market as of July 15, courtesy of the husband-and-wife team, Ben and Suzanne Morrison.
The newest Pennsylvania winery was a long time coming, too. The duo spent a large portion of the last two years rehabbing a 150-year-old stone barn to act as the output’s tasting room and headquarters. The eye-catching home base features a spacious interior lined with ash and walnut flooring (sourced from the property) and stacked stone walls, and an exterior featuring an inviting deck for casual sipping, equipped great views of the vineyard.
Stone Barn Cellars debuted with a collection of 12 handcrafted wines ranging from dry to sweet. The winemakers plan to add to the roster over time. Teases of the inventory include a dry chardonnay, a blush, a semi-sweet table red, and even a spiced pumpkin option. For the warm weather season, Suzanne prepares red sangria for guests, with a peach white sangria to be served in-house very soon.
The tasting room is open daily, from noon–6 p.m. on Sunday–Thursday, and from 11 a.m.–7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
