The Montgomery Avenue restaurant offers upscale pub food and plenty of outdoor seating.

With its retractable garage doors and plenty of outdoor seating, Royal Cafe has become quite a popular spot in Narberth. Opening this past in June in the former Cafe Lift, the comfortable, non-nonsense eatery isn’t making any bold culinary statements—just churning out quality comfort food like burgers and four kinds of mac and cheese.

Italian options include mushroom papperdelle and veggie antipasto. The popular Murder Hornet pizza lives up to its billing, with Calabrian soppressata, mozzarella, and spicy local honey. Other pies include the Char-Char (a varied pepperoni feast) and the Royal Buffalo (with popcorn chicken, buffalo sauce, mozzarella, ranch dressing, celery and red onion).

With chillier weather arriving, Royal has made plans to maintain its alfresco environment for as long as possible, thanks to outdoor heaters. Brunch favorites include the smothered burrito with eggs, potatoes, roasted peppers and onions. Classics like eggs Benedict and avocado toast are also available. Or go slightly off the rails with the huevos rancheros pizza, topped with eggs, refried beans, queso Chihuahua, chorizo, roasted peppers and onions.
