Restaurant Openings: Garrett Hill Ale House, Spasso Italian Grill & More

PLUS: Michael Solomonov’s newest venture, Citron and Rose, comes to Merion this summer.

Warm Welcome

That’s what local foodies will be giving Zahav chef Michael Solomonov and business partner Steve Cook when they roll into Merion this summer. Citron and Rose is the name of their kosher European-Jewish restaurant and catering company, set to open soon on Montgomery Avenue. I can already hear phones ringing off the hook.

Taste This

Share Our Strength’s Taste of the Nation is always a good time, and it supports a great cause: helping end childhood hunger. This year’s chair is Top Chef winner Kevin Sbraga of Center City’s Sbraga restaurant. Joining him on May 7 at Loews Philadelphia Hotel are some of the region’s hottest chefs, with Main Line representation from Avalon’s John Brandt-Lee, Funky Lil’ Kitchen’s Michael Falcone and Verdad’s Nicholas Farina.

New and Noteworthy

Along Rosemont’s Garrett Avenue, Garrett Hill Ale House has taken over the Kebab Factory.

Spasso Italian Grill is open on State Street in Media.

And the new Firebirds Wood Fired Grill in Collegeville isn’t too far off the Line, and worth a visit for dishes cooked over an open flame.
