» Recession? What recession? Win and Sutida Somboonsong’s suburban culinary empire continues to expand despite the tanking economy. Plans are well underway to transform the Edgemont space formerly occupied by Roux 3 into an American-style steakhouse with Asian flair. The place will be called Parker’s Prime, after the couple’s youngest child, Parker. Gino Razzi of Penns Woods Winery will manage its wine list. Among the Somboonsongs’ other restaurants: Mikado and Thai Pepper in Ardmore, Azie in Media, Flavor in Wayne, and Teikoku in Newtown Square.
» Et tu, Frazer? There’s more culinary action in Frazer, thanks to new Lincoln Court Shopping Center tenants Dixie Picnic and Gadaleto’s. Ocean City, N.J.’s Dixie Picnic is home to the much-talked- about “upcake”—an upside-down cupcake covered completely in icing. This western Main Line outpost will feature the upcake’s many varieties, along with hearty, “authentic” homestyle cooking. Equally newsworthy is the opening of a new Gadaleto’s, the popular West Chester seafood market—actually a mini-chain out of New York.
