The long-awaited Nomad Pizza has finally opened at 611 S. 7th St. between South and Bainbridge streets. We’ve talked about the pizza before, so we just recommend trying it out for yourself. Keep in mind that reservations are not accepted and wine and a dozen craft beers are offered. Visit nomadpizza.com.
Russet is the name of the new BYO at 1521 Spruce St. from husband-and-wife team Kristin and Andrew Wood. They opened for service in the former Ernesto’s space on Valentine’s Day, and serve food that’s in the farm-to-table vein with European influences. Andrew was the sous chef at Fork and Kristin was the former pastry chef at James in Bella Vista. Although it just opened, the buzz so far has been nothing but wonderful. Visit russetphilly.com.
A new steak and seafood house is also now open in Old City. Reserve is a restaurant, bar and lounge that serves up steakhouse favorites with a great wine, cocktail and bourbon list to boot. There’s a cigar lounge and live jazz, too. Visit reservephilly.com.
And did you read the shout-out to Vedge restaurant in the March issue of Food and Wine? The vegan restaurant from the former owners of Horizons have found a way to make vegan eating inventive, elegant, and most of all, delicious. Visit vedgerestaurant.com.
