For five years, Yanako has been satisfying Manayunk’s craving for first-class sushi, sashimi, udon, soba, tempura, katsu, and every roll under the sun. Chef Harrison Kim sculpts inspired whimsy with exacting precision. By way of an example, his Naruto ($14) delicately rolls tuna, salmon, avocado, radish and mango into four crunchy cucumber discs, resting them in a pool of ponzu sauce.
We brought along a semi-dry 2015 Dr. Konstantin Frank Riesling ($20) from New York’s Finger Lakes region. Its crisp acidity and lemon, green-apple and floral notes enhanced the inherent flavors of the Naruto.
