The Main Line welcomes the elegant Otto by Polpo, the eighth eatery in our region owned and operated by the Daku family.
Albania’s Daku family have found fertile ground for their restaurant empire in our region. Their latest BYOB venture, Otto by Polpo, is their eighth (otto means eight in Italian). The first Polpo has been a hit with summer diners in Avalon, N.J., and there’s also the well-regarded Daku-owned La Fontana restaurants in Philadelphia and the Jersey Shore towns of Strathmere and Sea Isle City.
In Bryn Mawr, chef Bujar Daku’s son, Bekim, has transformed a former Wells Fargo Bank building into an immersive Mediterranean-focused experience. The 2,500-square-foot space features a colorful collection of eclectic art and textured design elements, and the large side patio should be covered and heated before the weather turns cold.
Highlights on Otto’s diverse antipasti list include shrimp, Italian sausage and burrata. The baby Spanish octopus appetizer is a must-try. The tender roasted tentacles arrive drizzled with pesto and draped over seasonal vegetables, cannellini beans and Roman artichokes.
The menu also includes house-made pasta, a selection of creamy risotto dishes, and various chicken and veal entrees. Seafood standouts include salmon livornese, bronzino and a daily catch fileted tableside. Top off your meal with a cappuccino, espresso or affogato.
52 N. Bryn Mawr Ave., Bryn Mawr, (610) 880-0001, ottobypolpo.com.
