The other day, I took a little drive down Lancaster Avenue to check out a few places scheduled to open this spring. Call it a foodie “progress report,” if you will.
My first stop was the Ardmore Farmers Market, where I was in search of the Italian specialty shop, Di Bruno Bros. But I couldn’t see beyond the white, floor-to-ceiling drapes keeping the construction under wraps. I’m attending the grand opening on Thursday, so more to come. The “official” opening is only about a week away!
My next stop was Wayne Square, once the site of Acme. Now, the building is almost completely demolished. Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza and Chipotle Mexican Grill are the only two restaurants in the strip, but I’ve heard a few rumors of a Five Guys Burgers and Fries and, possibly, a Hogfish Bar and Grille going up.
I then turned down North Wayne Avenue to check on the status of the Mexican restaurant, Xilantro, whose windows have been covered for months with little sign of activity. But the place was hopping with construction on the interior. A pre-Cinco de Mayo opening is the goal.
