New Moon

Time is running out to dine at MangoMoon in Manayunk, but chef Moon Krapugthong has something new cooking.

Manayunk’s MangoMoon owner Moon Krapugthong sure is busy! Immediately following her cooking stint at New York’s prestigious James Beard House on April 4, she will close her Thai eatery on April 9. It’s located just blocks from her flagship restaurant, Chabba Thai, which is undergoing changes of its own. Until it’s closing, MangoMoon will serve authentic Bangkok street food—a departure from her existing menu. The new hours are 5-10 p.m., Wednesday-Saturday.

But don’t be too sad about MangoMoon—when one door closes, another opens. Taking advantage of just that, Moon is currently working on a new restaurant along Main Street called Yanako, which means “butterfly flower” in Japanese. Expect homestyle Asian cuisine, with a lighter touch. I’m excited about this addition to Manayunk.
