Kennett Winterfest Returns Feb. 23

Now in its seventh year, the festival will feature more than 60 craft breweries.

Sipping brews isn’t just for summer thanks to Kennett Winterfest. Now in its seventh year, the annual event returns to the borough on Feb. 23. Over 60 craft breweries will be in attendance this year, including local favorites 2SP Brewing, Conshohocken Brewing, Dogfish Head, Kennett Brewing Company, La Cabra Brewing and Locust Lane. “Amazingly, 20 [participants] are first timers,” says event chairman Jeff Norman.

Those include King of Prussia’s Workhorse Brewing Company, Exton’s Stolen Sun Craft Brewing, Phoenixville’s Rebel Hill Brewing Company and Schwenksville’s Brothers Kershner Brewing Co. “It’s always nice to have new people in and see what they’re going to bring,” Norman adds.

A younger sibling to the fall’s Kennett Brewfest, the winter event attracts roughly 1,000 beer aficionados. The limited “Defconn 1.6” ticket option sold out in just two hours. Those lucky enough to snag one get early access, a select tasting of Levante brews, and gourmet food pairings from Talula’s Table and George & Sons’ Seafood Market. All Winterfest attendees can also sip ciders and meads from the likes of Big Hill Cidery and Dressler Estate. “We always try to mix in [beer alternatives],” says Norman. “It gives people an opportunity to change it up a bit.”
