January Dining News Across the Main Line’s Restaurant Scene

Seasonal juice flavors, a Euro-style cafe with a quaint rooftop and more dining updates add color to the western suburbs.

Properly Pressed owner Jillian Maher is no stranger to the food industry. She’s worked with her brother, Chadds Ford Tavern’s Phillip Ferro, for years. Still, the self-proclaimed holistic wellness advocate wanted to find a way to channel her love for healthy living into something unique—and her Media-based cold-pressed juice joint was born.

At Properly Pressed, all organic produce is soaked in a mix of food-grade peroxide and water purified by reverse osmosis to eliminate any harmful herbicides and pesticides. A hydraulic press extracts the maximum amount of liquid, which is then bottled, labeled and given an expiration date. Seasonal flavors boast whimsical names like Bruce Banner (cucumber, green apple, spinach, basil, lemon), Fineapple (red bell pepper, pineapple, red apple, lemon) and Hulk (zucchini, green apple, collard greens, basil, lemon). We’ve never tasted a sweeter, cleaner apple cider than what Maher offers here, and she’s looking to add bone broths, yogurt and family-style soups in the near future.

Order online for pickup in Media or at Paul Bunyan Fitness in Newtown Square. Delivery within an eight-mile radius is also available, and discounts are offered for those undergoing cancer treatment. 300 W. State St., Suite 106, Media, (484) 443-8427, properly-pressed.com.
