Leave it to Pennsylvania’s outdated liquor laws to take the fun out of drinking, at least at Iron Hill Brewery. Iron Hill has been operating its Mug Club loyalty program for some 10 years now, offering members points towards meals when a certain number are accrued from the purchase of alcohol and other Iron Hill merchandise. Harmless right?
Not so, say state agencies that regulate alcohol sales. The Mug Club is being forced to shut down, and in a letter drafted to Mug Club members and Iron Hill customers, Iron Hill President Kevin Finn explains some of the changes that will take place during the transition from one club to another while the brewery works to meet the new demands of the state agencies and regulators. You can read the entire letter at ironhillbrewery.com/mugclub, but a few changes include not being able to receive points for the purchase of alcohol, and no new members are currently being accepted while the changes are being worked out.
Many Mug Club benefits will be unchanged, which members will be happy about. A new Mug Club program is looking at a fall unveiling. Stay tuned!
