Sure, it’s nice to go out for ice cream during the summer, but pudding?
I first heard about Havertown’s Pudding Lane, created by Mike Leibowitz and Bret Binder, in Michael Klein’s blog on Philly.com. The two friends and Villanova Law School grads say on their store’s website that “no matter what, great pudding makes the world a better place for all.” So I had to check this shop out for myself.
Forget goopy cups of too-sweet instant pudding. Pudding Lane’s variety is taken to the next level—and then some. Leibowitz and Binder use sugar, eggs and milk to make more than 15 flavors, along with Arborio rice in some other flavors like coconut-cream rice pudding. Chocolate and vanilla are givens, but who knew pineapple, blueberry, pumpkin, maple and banana-cream rice puddings would be such a hit?
This shop also offers countless combinations of pudding and toppings. Try the Abbey “Rocky” Road—chocolate pudding with mini marshmallows and nuts, topped with whipped cream—or the Paddington Bearry, featuring your choice of pudding with fresh, seasonal berries and whipped cream.
I’m wondering why someone didn’t think of this idea sooner!
