Havertown’s Pepperoncini BYOB

FROM LEFT: Steamed clams, chicken messina and sausage and broccoli rabe over penne.

The former Pepperoncini Italian Market of Havertown revealed their biggest transformation to date last week. Its owners, Tom DeFruscio and Dan Duffy, the heavy-hitters backing the Pepperoncini brand including Phoenixville’s Pepperoncini Sotto, have reconceptualized their Havertown hub into a saucy 40-seat Italian BYOB. The duo initially partnered on Conshohocken Pepperoncini, which is now solely owned by Paul DiBona.

As the newest eatery of Delaware County, Pepperoncini BYOB specializes in what the gents do best—Italian authenticity—serving up hearty favorites just like nonna once prepared. From heaping bowls of steamed clams and mussels, to sausage and broccoli rabe tumbling over fresh plates of penne and sauteed chicken breast with grilled eggplant and roasted red peppers, the petite BYOB aims to be your new favorite neighborhood stop.

Owner Tom DeFruscio ensured Pepperoncini favorites such as their Prosciutto di Parma-wrapped shrimp made the cut.

Of course, DeFruscio and Dan Duffy were sure to ensure that Pepperoncini favorites made the fresh menu’s cut, including the signature pepper and Prosciutto di Parma-wrapped shrimp, the house salad packed with pancetta crisps, Parmesan cheese, artichokes, and roasted red peppers; and the jumbo lump crab cakes with basil aioli.

Additional new menu highlights that have caught our eyes include the Mediterranean sea bass baked with the zesty flavors of artichokes, diced tomatoes and red onion; and the buffalo mozzarella-stuffed ravioli finished with roasted veggies and rosa sauce.
