Your guy can’t make a pie? Philadelphia’s Magpie Artisan Pie Boutique knows you’re not alone. The shop’s owner/baker extraordinaire Holly Ricciardi wants to guarantee that you’ll have fresh-baked pies flying out of your oven in the near future by hosting a males-only baking class on Jan. 23, 6–9 p.m.

Ricciardi will open up her kitchen to just 10 gentlemen students for the one-night-only event, schooling attendees on the art of her signature Apple Cheddar Crumb Pie. To up the ante on the pie class, which is coincidentally hosted on National Pie Day, the brewer of Kensington’s forthcoming nano-brewery, Tim Patton of Saint Benjamin Brewing Company, will be co-hosting the dessert course, offering up samples of his English Mild Ale.

Cost is $90 per person, which includes pie-making education, dinner, dessert and complimentary samples of beer. Menu for the night includes: Shepherd’s Pie with cauliflower mash, a green salad, and slices of Butterscotch Bourbon Pie.
