Have you seen the new March issue of GQ? If not, you may want to pick up a copy to see what area eatery has been named one of the top 10 best new restaurants in the country. OK, we won’t make you wait. Making the cut is Chestnut Hill’s Mica. Writer Alan Richman has nothing but praise for chef Chip Roman, saying that he’s creating “complex food and doing it astoundingly well.” We couldn’t agree more!
In other exciting restaurant news, the list of James Beard semifinalists has been announced. There are lots of categories with Philly representation, but a few of the nominees include Vetri for outstanding restaurant and outstanding service, and Tashan, The Farm and Fisherman and Zeppoli for best new restaurant. Semifinalists for best chef in the Midatlantic region include Chip Roman of Mica, Marcie Turney of Barbuzzo, David Gilberg of Koo Zee Doo, Pierre Calmels of Bibou and Konstantinos Pitsillides of Kanella. The narrowed down list will be announced in mid-March.
