Food In Jars Author to Host Canning Workshop with Greener Partners

Greener Partners teams up with canning expert Marisa McClellan to educate Main Liner’s on how to preserve the season’s bounty.

Philadelphia-based food blogger and Food in Jars: Preserving in Small Batches Year-Round cookbook author, Marisa McClellan, will soon join the green-thumbed crew at Collegeville’s Longview Market for an upcoming canning course.

As hosted during the heat of growing season on Saturday, July 21, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m., the local canning guru will offer attendees a preservation primer, sharing skills, tips and tricks to get you started canning and jam-making. The agenda will even include a step-by-step how-to on preparing a batch of low-sugar plum jam, with a question-and-answer session finishing up the program. Each attendee will score a sweet take-home gift too—a jar of Marisa’s jam!

Cost is $35 per person (register here). A Food in Jars cookbook sale and signing will follow the canning class.
