Farmers Markets Slated to Debut in Downingtown and Malvern

Local food and producers take center stage on the Main Line, just in time for the opening of farmer’s market season.

The local food movement is alive and well in Philadelphia suburbs, so much so that this year’s growing season will be welcomed with the introduction of two new farmers markets.

Growing Roots Partners, a local output focused in on connecting people around the table and managing local farm markets, is preparing to introduce Downingtown Farmers Market on Thursday, May 2, from 3-7 p.m. Located in Kerr Park, just off of Route 30, the season’s latest outdoor pop-up will feature 25 farmers and food artisans per week, all located within a 40 mile radius of Downingtown. A few homegrown vendors will be included in the farm-fresh lineup, including Two Gander Farm, Naughty Nutty Love and Ellen April.

The second market slated to debut this season is Malvern Farmers Market, which will be introduced to the public on Saturday, May 4. Located in Burke Park, between Warren and Channing avenues, the Main Line’s newest Saturday hot spot will highlight 25 vendors, all of which will also be sourced from within a 40-mile radius of the market. Of the esteemed market lineup, expect to see Wyebrook Farm, Birchrun Hills Farm, Dia Doce, Vera’s Pasta, Jenny & Frank’s Artisan Gelato and MomPops.
