So many Main Line restaurants have just opened or will soon, from Wayne’s Paramour and Bala Cynwyd’s Pescatore to Tired Hands Brewing Company and St. James Place, both in Ardmore. I’m also excited about Ella’s American Bistro on Sugartown Road in Wayne. Owner Cortright Wetherill Jr. of Devon Hill BMW expects a December opening.
I’ve been following Ella’s progress on Facebook, where photos of its mouthwatering dishes appear daily. Look for caramelized leek risotto cake with roasted pulled chicken, sautéed spinach and parsnips; and pappardelle Bolognese with fresh ricotta and Pecorino Romano (pictured). Executive chef Matt Schuler—who most recently taught at the Viking Cooking School in Bryn Mawr—will join the trend of the moment with this farm-to-table restaurant, serving organic, chemical-free and sustainable food that’s sourced from local farms. Menu prices range $10-$30 for lunch, dinner and brunch.
