If you’re looking for something fun to do on Sept. 21, there’s still time to get tickets for the culinary event known as EATS (Eat Along the Street), happening at Propper Brothers Furniture in Manayunk. Co-chaired by Chabaa Thai Bistro chef Moon Krapugthong, the event is set up festival style, with restaurants like Cooper’s Brick Oven Wine Bar and Jose Garces’ Guapos Tacos truck.
The most entertaining part of the night will probably be the Chef Throwdown, featuring Clark Gilbert of Philadelphia’s Gemelli on Main, Tony Clark of Old Grange Restaurant in Cape May, N.J., and others as they create international street-food cuisine from local ingredients. A panel of judges—like Jose Garces and Philadelphia Inquirer columnist Rick Nichols—will name the winner.
Guests will have the chance to win food- and restaurant-related prizes, and they can also take part in an auction for cooking classes and Phillies and Flyers tickets. All EATS ticket proceeds go to an orphanage in Thailand to help train children for culinary and hospitality careers.
$35-$125. 6-9 p.m. Visit manayunk.ticketleap.com/eatsmanayunk.
