Eating Dirt and Loving It

Longwood Gardens’ daring dessert is delish.

1906 AT LONGWOOD GARDENS’ FLOWER POT

Longwood Gardens makes devouring “dirt” elegant. For 1906’s most darling dessert, the in-house pastry team sculpts a terra-cotta pot out of pillowy vanilla buttercream, circling it around an über-moist chocolate cake that’s crowned with espresso-cocoa “soil.” Chunks of rhubarb are added, along with a sprig of mint for the final realistic touch. Going green never tasted so sinful. $10. 1001 Longwood Road, Kennett Square, (610) 388-5290, www.longwoodgardens.org
