Verdad Launches Campaign to Raise Funds for a Future Taco Truck

There’s a special prize for each contribution towards the food truck, some of which include gift cards, tickets to Verdad’s Tequila University and free tacos for life.

When the option of free tacos for a month also comes with naming rights for the traditional Mexican treat, there are very few people who would head in the other direction. Conveniently enough, that scenario is a reality as Verdad Restaurant & Tequila Bar’s chef/owner Nick Farina heads up his newest venture—a roving taco truck. Food truck lovers, Mexican fare fanatics and the cuisine curious can expect this rolling kitchen of authentic eats to hit Main Line streets by the fall of 2013, granted their funding techniques play out as planned.

Chef Farina, who has been deemed the King of Local Tacos, tapped into the crowdfunding startup, Lucky Ant, to begin raising funds for his initial purchase and unique outfitting that will follow. The online campaign launched Feb. 21 and continues through March 19. Those interested in contributing are looking at rewards including naming rights for custom-designed tacos (which comes with free unlimited tacos for a month), the use of the truck for private events, a Villanova graduation feast for up to eight guests, a Cinco de Mayo celebration complete with a DJ and piñatas at your home or office, tickets to Verdad’s Tequila University, discounts on food, gift certificates and free tacos for life!

To add to the local camaraderie, Lucky Ant was founded by University of Pennsylvania grads, Jonathan Moyal and Nate Echeverria, so supporting Verdad’s cause transcends into supporting a super locally focused effort. You can pitch in by visiting Verdad’s Lucky Ant page, plus hitting up the Bryn Mawr restaurant for chef Nick’s Taco Tuesday, where a new taco is developed every week.
