This weekend, on Oct. 12-13, join this tough crowd for the wildest wine pairing of your life. Take your taste buds on a spicy ride as you devour five flavor-packed varieties of beef jerky, each paired according with one of Penns Woods’ bold, elite wines.
In prep for the larger-than-life tasting, the seven-deep, Downingtown-bred band of curing artisans agreed to serve up a sneak peek of what’s to come. Jerky varieties to be spotlighted include:
â— O.G. Hickory (the classic that started it all)
â— Che-potle Guevara (a mild rendition peppered with chipotle, chili powder and cumin)
â— Habanero Escobar (the spiciest of the bunch)
â— A brand-new chocolate and hazelnut flavor
â— Thai-inspired strips concocted with coconut, lemongrass, ponzu soy sauce and Thai chiles, and inspired by RFJC’s Bill Cohen’s time spent teaching in Thailand.
The cartel even reveals that they’ve concocted a small-batch of Penns Woods’ wine-infused jerky … but, you’ll have to hang tight until you can gnaw on that rare beauty of a release (coming soon).
