New Mod-American Restaurant-Bar Coming to Villanova

Share

A refreshing, uncomplicated restaurant and bar concept is slated to debut along East Lancaster Avenue come spring 2013, filling a portion of the former homes of Maia and Mixx.

Dana Smith Farrell, a local “advocate of health-conscious, farm-to-table cuisine” and also a partner of Harvest Seasonal Grill and Wine Bar, announces that she’s bringing the appropriately-coined Avenue Kitchen to Villanova.

As the former owner of highly-regarded Classic Diner, Farrell intends to pair her past culinary pursuits into one fine-tuned package—coupling nostalgic flavor and comfort foods with health-conscious cuisine.

She’ll be teaming up with her brother, Greg Smith, to execute this project, who will serve as head chef of the restaurant. Smith, with a culinary track record of his own, has worked for several local heavy-hitters, including Georges Perrier, Jean-Marie La Croix and Chris Scarduzio.

The newest Main Line neighborhood haunt will feature a simple, modern American cuisine menu aside a full beverage program that’ll sling craft cocktails, beer and wine.

Farrell collaborated with Sandvold Blanda Architecture + Interiors to dream up an alluring interior that complemented the simple and modern menu, while still putting forth a touch of glamour. Guests can expect a dining room that’s themed industrial chic, as dressed in Emeco chairs from recycled Coke bottles and reclaimed wood table tops from Provenance Architecturals of Philadelphia.

Follow Avenue Kitchen on Facebook for developments. Stay tuned for an official opening date.
