Kings Tavern in Coatesville Crafts Delightful Fare in an Elegant Ambiance

Formerly Mr. E’s Tavern & Fine Food in Coatesville, Kings Tavern expands as a chic dining experience with plans for an event space and more.

Phil Ferro and his fiancée, Kate Hussey, are the new sovereigns of the former Mr. E’s Tavern & Fine Food in Coatesville. They’ve rechristened it Kings Tavern after the nearby Kings Highway, one of the oldest Colonial roads in the nation linking Lancaster to Philadelphia.

The new interior boasts lighter color schemes, a reworked bar, lush velvet drapes and regal artwork. White linen tablecloths, fresh flowers and lit candles give the two dining rooms an elegant feel (though they can by noisy on busier nights). It’s worth noting that Ferro and Hussey have had some practice at this, having successfully revived the Chadds Ford Tavern four years ago. At Kings Tavern, they’re planning an expansion to make room for event space, a larger outdoor dining area and additional parking.

The tavern’s ample menu features a raw bar, handhelds, huge salads, and classics like steak frites, seafood fra diavolo, chicken Parmesan, scallops, ahi tuna, lobster tails and a 40-ounce tomahawk ribeye. The 16-ounce Kurobuta pork chop was easily the best we’ve ever eaten. If you can save room, the house-made desserts are also a treat. Reservations are highly recommended.
