Blobfest is back and better than ever! Phoenixville’s three-day-long event, hosted by The Colonial Theatre in commemoration of the 1958 horror classic The Blob, will take place July 11-13. The fun-filled fest features screenings of The Blob and other horror classics, a re-enactment of the film’s theater run out sequence, competitions, a street fair, themed food and drink events, and much more.
The Run Out. The Blobfest Run Out is the must-see event of the weekend. Gather outside The Colonial Theatre Friday, July 11, at approximately 9 p.m. to watch as theater-goers dramatically (and hilariously) reenact the infamous scene from the film. If you’re one of the lucky ones who has tickets to be inside the theater for this already sold-out event, the festivities start at 7 p.m.
Cherry Blob & TV Dinners at Iron Hill Brewery & Restaurant. Iron Hill is getting into the Blobfest spirit with special beer and food offerings. Head in starting at noon on Saturday, July 12, for the release of Cherry Blob beer, Iron Hill’s award-winning Tripel with the addition of tart Michigan Montmorency cherries.

In true 1950s fashion, the restaurant will also have Salisbury steak TV dinners as well as a three-course tasting menu featuring fried mac & cheese blobs, char-grilled pork porterhouse and red velvet bread pudding, each paired with one of Iron Hill’s top-notch brews.
Street Fair. Be sure to visit the free street fair on Saturday, July 12, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., with music by Full Blown Cherry; appearances by August Ragone, Joel Hodgson, The Patient Creatures, Ghoul A Go-Go, Mr. Lobo and Dixie Dellamorto; the Fire Extinguisher Parade; Costume Contest (1 p.m.); Merchant Facade Contest; food; and vendors.
Film Screenings. Film buffs can also enjoy a full weekend of classic horror films during Blobfest weekend. The double feature trifecta includes The Blob and Mothra on Saturday, July 12; The Blob and King Kong vs. Godzilla, also on Saturday; and The Blob and The Giant Spider on Sunday, July 13.
Tin Foil Hat Competition. Enter the Tin Foil Hat Competition sponsored by the Phoenix Village Art Center for your chance to win cash prizes! Winners in three categories—child, teen and adult—are determined by popular vote. Voting is open to the public for $1, with proceeds going to the artists with the most votes. Registration and hat drop-off is Friday, July 11; voting runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, July 12, with winners announced at 4:45.
