I was excited to find out that two excellent local restaurants have added lunch to their repertoires.
Conshohocken’s Mediterranean tapas restaurant, Isabella, recently unveiled a lunch menu of small plates, salads, omelets, sandwiches, burgers and several seafood entrées—including the crave-worthy crispy-potato-and-arugula-topped mussels. Grab a bowl of roasted tomato soup with a side of briny olives or the chili-and-roasted-garlic-marinated beef skewers. Isabella also offers larger lunch dishes, but stick to a seasonal salad for a lighter option. Monday-Friday, 11:30 a.m.-2 p.m. Visit barisabella.com.
If you’re looking for a weekend lunch spot, definitely try Manayunk’s Gemelli on Main. Chef Clark Gilbert is serving seasonal dishes that have the same finesse and sophistication as his dinner items. Choose from soup, salads, pasta, seafood, an omelet or French toast du jour, a roasted pork belly sandwich with broccoli rabe and provolone, a burger, and several seafood options. Wash it all down with the Ultimate Bloody Mary or a Chocolate Manhattan. Saturday-Sunday, 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Visit gemellionmain.com.
