Coming Soon to Bookshelves: Marisa McClellan’s “Preserving by the Pint”

Want to become an at-home expert in preserving by the jar? Snag a copy of local canning guru Marisa McClellan’s newest cookbook, Preserving by the Pint, and allow it to act as your guide.

Dream of dabbling in pickling or preserving? The second cookbook from local canning expert and blogger Marisa McClellan, Preserving by the Pint, will be published by Running Press March 25, 2014. McClellan, has been sharing her canning adventures on her blog, Food in Jars, since 2006, and released her first book, also called Food in Jars, in 2012. Her seasonal small-batch recipes will lend a longer shelf life to urban canners’ kitchen know-how and put their CSA memberships and farmer’s market bounty to good use.

Organized by seasons, Preserving by the Pint is a “jam-packed” guide where readers can explore recipes to craft quarts, pounds and pints of unique creations like Mustardy Rhubarb Chutney or Blueberry Maple Jam in addition to a variety of chutneys, mostardas, pestos and pickles. With pages of “quick seasonal canning for small spaces,” many recipes take an hour or less. Now that’s something we can get into!

Pick up a copy of McClellan’s first book here and keep an eye on her blog, foodinjars.com for book signings, purchase locations and other details on her second book release.
