Citron and Rose Names New Chef

Following Michael Solomonov’s exit from the glatt kosher Merion restaurant, lauded chef Karen Nicholas takes over, bringing lunch service in tow.

Following the abrupt news of Michael Solomonov and Steven Cook’s departure from the ambitious Citron and Rose, comes the word of a new chef replacement. With chef Yehuda Sichel exiting the Merion Station kitchen aside Cook + Solo (to return to Old City’s Zahav), owner David Magerman names Karen Nicolas the new executive chef.

Nicolas, a Philadelphia native, is thrilled to return to her hometown after a stint at Equinox in Washington, D.C. The female chef arrives to the suburban restaurant with prestige under her culinary belt, including the significant nod of being named Food & Wine Magazine’s Best New Chef in 2012. Nicolas has also worked under chef Tom Colicchio and was recently inducted in the 2013 Best Chefs America book.

Manning the Citron and Rose kitchen will be the first time that Nicolas has lead an all-kosher concept, and is excited for the challenge. With the hype of the new culinary leader comes the restaurant’s launch of lunch service, which will begin on May 27 and continue Sundays through Thursdays. A sidewalk café will also be opened in conjunction with lunch.
