Channel Surfing: Philadelphia Chefs Make Television Debuts—Appearances on Top Chef and Great Food Truck Wars Included

Chefs from our city are scoring well-deserved time in the television limelight, with talents competing on Bravo’s Top Chef, Food Network’s Great Food Truck Wars, and others scoring their own signature shows. Below, the full agenda of what to set on your DVR.

Top Chef alum and Philadelphia restaurateur, Kevin Sbraga of Center City’s Sbraga, is hosting his own Cooking Channel show, Get Trucked, which made its debut on Thursday, Aug. 15 at 9 p.m. The show specializes in renovating and reviving failing food trucks, with the pilot episode highlighting a revamp of Foot Long Truck, a mobile kitchen found regularly on Temple University’s campus.

Food Network’s The Great Food Truck Wars’ season four will debut Sunday, Aug. 18, at 9 p.m., with The Samboni Boys representing not just Philadelphia but also our iconic cheesesteak. The teams criss-cross the country vying for the high-stakes cash prize of $50,000 and the right to keep the tricked-out food truck they compete with.

Local comfort food champ Robert Kolbasowski, of Fishtown’s Bubba’s Texas BBQ, has locked down his own Food Network series, Bubba-Q, which will premiere on Monday, Aug. 19 at 10:30 p.m.

Bravo Network’s Top Chef will make its eleventh season debut on Wed., Oct. 2, at 10 p.m. Despite being filmed in New Orleans from May to July, the two Philadelphia chefs who competed are sworn to secrecy on how well they performed. Be sure to tune in all season long to catch Jason Cichonski (pictured, of Ela) and Nick Elmi (of Rittenhouse Tavern and previously of Le Bec Fin) battle for the notorious Top Chef title.
