Conshohocken’s Pepperoncini Restaurant & Bar has opened a second outpost in Phoenixville: Pepperoncini Sotto Restaurant & Bar. This quaint Italian restaurant makes everything—pasta to dessert—from scratch. Prices are reasonable, and the menu looks quite good.
Small plates include gnocchi, grilled calamari and cavatelli panna, plus homemade pasta and shrimp in a grappa cream sauce with fresh thyme. Almost all of the small plates range $10-$13.
The entrées and pizza also caught my eye, especially the “paisano” pizza with broccoli rabe, sausage and long hots ($11) and the tortelloni refresco with fresh ricotta and braised beets tossed in walnut butter, fresh sage and shaved parmigiano ($17). There’s a great wine list and live music some nights.
